Eurovision Song Contest?

by SandyVR @ 25. May 2008 - 11:01:18

Veteran Eurovision Song Contest commentator Sir Terry Wogan has cast doubt on whether he would be involved in covering the event again.

He said it was "no longer a music contest" and that prospects for Western European participants were "poor". (Metro.co.uk)

You had to be Eastern European to be allowed to play. This is little to do with music, all to do with small-minded cliquishness and prejudice.
But then its been like that for years, right? Ever since they changed the way votes are counted.
For me, for several years, the only joy and tradition has been to settle down and chuckle along with Wogan at the whole damn farce.
If he goes, I'll be happy to switch off and ignore the show from here on in - heck, I'll even bombard the BBC with complaints for pushing Dr Who out of the way for this junk.

Pah.
